Pint and Slice has made it very clear how dedicated they are to art around Fort Wayne, with the mural on the wall outside and the gallery in the upstairs of the building. This sticker on the front door of the pizza place may be small, but it caught my attention. The small sticker allowed for a positive entrance, which foreshadowed the positivity and creativity that was inside the door.

The Hidden Gems of Downtown Fort Wayne

April 26, 2019

When taking a stroll through downtown Fort Wayne, there are many different elements to look at. Although it may seem boring at first, when taking a deeper look, it’s easy to see all the art that the downtown of the city has to offer.

Although this picture isn’t typically seen as art, the graffiti seen near an elevator in a parking garage caught my attention. At first it just looks rusty and gross, but then I realized that it reflects the idea that art downtown reflects the people who live there.
Found outside of the Botanical Gardens are different statues surrounded by greenery. This allows for people visiting the Botanical Gardens to get an insight of what will be on the inside and is also visually appealing.
All around downtown there are different sculptures seen on the sidewalks. This one shows a group of children, living, learning, playing, growing. The beauty of this sculpture reveals the hope and promise for the next generation.

Around the corner from the iconic mural on the wall of “Pint and Slice”, I found an awning that had different, colorful stickers on it. I can only assume that they were put there by the pizza shop, but what’s interesting is the fact that it’s beside the large mural on the wall of the shop. The small creative expression reveals the voice of people in Fort Wayne and shows how they’re truly the ones displaying the art of Fort Wayne.
Seen just down the road from Conjure Coffee is are some train tracks that run downtown. Although this may be common, what caught my eye about this one was the mural painted on it and the sculpture just beside it. It made something that’s plain more creative and drew attention to the art of downtown.
Fort Wayne is home to many different coffee shops that make art in their coffee, but one downtown is Conjure Coffee. Located on Columbia Avenue, the coffee shop gives customers a cozy feel from the moment they walk in the door.

Downtown Fort Wayne has so much art that makes it evident that art is becoming increasingly more important to the city. By adding more art, everything becomes more appealing and a certain beauty is added to the inner city, making it much more desirable to go downtown.
