Comedy! Horror! Survival! Zombies! Gore! Is everything and more that you’ll see in this upcoming play. It’s filled with many laughs and struggles between a group of strangers trying to survive this zombie apocalypse.
The fall play will be playing from September 26-28 at 7 pm in the large auditorium tickets are available now online.
This play is an adaptation of a movie in 1968 by George A. Romero’s called ‘Night of the Living Dead,” which wasn’t the first zombie film, but is often credited with creating the modern zombie.
The play is directed by Emily Arata and the lead character is Abigail Swihart. In this play there is a group of people trapped in a house during a zombie apocalypse.
The first act is just like the movie and the second act will be comedic with the line “If only they had___, maybe then they would have survived.” Emily said in a recent email.
The main characters in this play are Ben, Barbra, Harry, Helen, Tom, Judy, Darren, Chief McClellan, and Vince. They all work together to try to ‘survive.’
The lead role Barbra who is played by Abigail is one of the people trapped in the house. “We have to go get Johnny! He’s alone! You have to help me!” Abigail said this is her character’s favorite quote during the play.
The character Barbara is trying to save her brother but he doesn’t end up making it. So, she needs to try to survive with strangers since the only person she knew is gone.
The main role is very important and interesting in the play.
“She’s definitely an interesting character to play because she can go from a face-grabbing meltdown to disassociated within a few seconds,” Abigail said.
Abigail has worked very hard for the play and her character. She’s very passionate about acting and loves to have fun with it so her acting parts will be amazing and a great watch!
“My favorite part of this play is probably seeing the diversity in personalities of each of the characters,” said.
There are a total of 45 students working together to do this play including backstage crew, makeup artist, and the cast. The crew and actors have spent nearly six weeks rehearsing for the show.
Tickets are now available through the box office.
