The restriction of group costumes and general laziness leads to millions of teens that dress up in the same unoriginal Halloween costumes every October. No one needs to see another Harley Quinn and Joker duo or more Mario brothers.
It’s time to find something different.
Here are 10 group Halloween costumes that will stand out from the crowd this year.
Teletubbies:
Debuted in 1998, the Teletubbies are small alien-like creatures that roam an infinite grassy terrain. This costume is recognisable for any 2000’s baby, and is incredibly simple. Perfect for groups of 4, each person can choose to be either Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Lala, or Po with decorated headbands and rainbow colored bodysuits.
Old ladies:
“Back in my day there was no Halloween”… Old Ladies are arguably one the best Halloween costumes, and the funniest in a group of guys. Imagine it, a group of 6ft kids hunched over with walkers and curly gray wigs. You could take it even further by having a bingo themed party.
Rugrats:
Jumping in the time machine, from old ladies to babies, the rugrats are a great costume for a group of teens willing to commit to the bit. Grab some chunky glasses, green pants and a blue shirt to create the iconic Chuckie look.
Fast Food Mascots:
Mcdonalds, Wendy’s, Starbucks, Burger King, We all know of these chains. Each of them have their own specific, lovable mascot. They’re well known, and often relatively easy to do as a group, or even solo. A red wig, a red striped undershirt and a yellow vest create an easily recognizable Ronald costume. Bonus points if you go as Colonel Sanders and a chicken.
Team Heroes:
As Sonic would say, “Talk about low budget flights!”. While this costume isn’t a flight, it’s definitely pretty fly, and also super cheap! Throw on some blue, orange, pink, or red fur pieces to make one of the Sonic Franchise’s characters.
The Backyardigans:
The Backyardigans have made a comeback as of late through tiktok trends and their recent reboot. Even though it was a childhood staple show, there aren’t many Uniquas and Pablos roaming on the 31st, but that can be changed this year! A striped sweater and some moose horns make Tyrone’s signature outfit.
The Flintstones:
Yabadaba-dooon’t settle for prehistoric, outdated costumes. While the Flintstone family may have lived to meet the dinosaurs, they at least never went as ‘Hot & Cold’ to a Halloween party. Use a box or scrap wood to recreate Fred’s walking car!
Max and Ruby:
Even though this iconic duo wouldn’t be fit for a group, they’re certainly adorable. Throw on a dress or some overalls, a pair of bunny ears, and even take it a step further by making their staple joint birthday cake.
Sylvanian Families:
These critters have gained traction in the past few months, sending every chronically online girl into a nostalgia fit. Many students recall seeing these toys in the back of the Barnes and Noble circa 2015. This costume is perfect for the kids that used to pretend to be Warrior Cats out on the playground. Pull your old dress up cat ears out of the closet for an easy and quick transformation.
Littlest pet shop
And lastly, the Littlest pet shop. Even if you don’t remember the fan made Youtube series, these little Hasbro animal dolls have to ring a bell. There are multitudes of the little critters, so scroll through some archives and select one of the colorful creations that speaks to you.
