It’s a Saturday showdown in Spartan Arena, as Carroll takes on Homestead in a rematch of the game of the year. In a battle of the two best teams in the 260 one will move on to Semi-State and one will end the season early.
The last time these two teams met in the regular season, Carroll won the first 2 sets in dominant fashion before Homestead stormed back to take the 3rd and 4th set, the 5th set was a back-and-forth contest which ultimately ended with a Charger victory.
Carroll was rolling until Homestead was able to clog up the middle of the net which led to more pressure on the outsides which is a flaw in the in Charger’s offense because they rely heavily on Junior setter Sophia Gisslen and Addi Shippy up the middle. When the middles get blocked that leads to a one-dimensional offense for the Chargers.
These two teams met at the same spot last season, Homestead won 3-0 which was a letdown for the Chargers. However, this year’s team is incredibly talented and has all the makings of making it past the Loaded Spartan roster which includes four D-1 commits.
The Chargers are trying to get out of regionals for the first time since 2015 and if they do they play the Winner of Warsaw and Crown Point on Saturday November 2nd.
