It’s the first Friday in November, and The Path to Lucas Oil Stadium starts tonight for the Chargers. Some Shake ups in the top class are sure to provide some interesting matchups. Almin Covic and I break down every sectional in class 6A below.
Sectional 1
Portage at Crown Point
Crown Point is 9-0 and won by almost 40 when they played earlier this year, and nothing will change here. Crown Point by 30.
Lake Central at Penn
Penn will win this game because their offense is good they average about 20.67 at home, and when they are on the road they average about 23.50.
Championship
Penn vs Crown Point – In a new matchup where Penn was shifted back into sectional one, and Crown Point was the State Runner up last season this should be a good game in Mishawaka next week.
Hunters Pick – Crown Point by 7
Almins Pick – Crown Point by 7
Sectional 2
Snider at Elkhart
Elkhart will win this game because they have a good record with good offense and their points per game is 40.5 at home, and when they are on the road is 7 points per game.
Chargers at Northrop
This one is pretty quick and dry, Chargers by 35+. The Bruins didn’t put up any resistance last month and don’t have enough defense to slow the Chargers no matter who is at QB. Jimmy Sulivan has been battling a wrist injury, he is a game-time decision on whether he plays or not. Tommy O’Conner and Gabe Frisinger are the backups.
Championship
Elkhart at Carroll
Elkhart has some sneaky good talent including the best player in the state Mariyon Dye who is going to Rocky Top to continue his football career at the University of Tennessee. Elkhart also has two other defensive linemen going Division 1 programs U of Cincinnati and Miami (OH) University. Talent aside Elkhart doesn’t play anyone during the regular season and lost to Concord. As long as Carroll doesn’t get bogged down up the middle it should be a two-score win for the Chargers ( Hunter’s Pick).
Almins Pick – Both of these teams are good, but I have faith that Carroll will win this game by 14.
Sectional 3
Carmel at Zionsville
Zionsville will win this game because it has a tougher schedule than Carmel’s. Their offense is not good when they are home or on the road because they have 28 points per game at home, and they have 14.5 points per game when they are on the road.
Harrison vs Westfield
In Harrison’s First year up into 6A they run into a buzzsaw in the Westfield Shamrocks who are ranked #3 in the State. Tough draw for the Raiders this season. ‘Rocks by 20
Championship
Zionsville vs Westfield
Zionsville is ok at best but they lost by 18 earlier in the year to the Shamrock’s and that will be a similar story next week. Shamrocks by 14 ( Hunter’s Pick )
Westfield has a good record, and I think they can handle this team. Shamrocks by 21. (Almin’s pick)
Sectional 4
Fishers at Noblesville
Fishers will win this game because they have a really good offense and when they are at home their points per game is 42.75 and when they are on the road their points per game is 26.
HSE at Homestead
HSE beat number one Brownsburg, Homestead got beat by 21 to Carroll, Carroll got beat by 25. Royals get the running clock by halftime.
Championship
Mudsock 2.0
HSE vs Fishers
This matchup always delivers, even more so in the playoffs. Fishers won the regular season matchup 37-35. Fishers gets one in this season, JonAnthony Hall with a walk-off TD. Fishers by a point (Hunter Pick)
Although this matchup is good, to be honest, I got HSE winning this game because although they lost them in the regular season they can beat them. HSE by a field goal. (Almin’s pick)
Sectional 5
Brownsburg at Avon
Brownsburg was number 1, and Avon is not great. Bulldogs by 20.
Ben Davis at Pike
Ben Davis will win this game because they are one of the top 10 Indiana teams with a decent offense and a good defense. Their points per game at home is 20, and when they are on the road it’s 37.8
Championship
Brownsburg vs Ben Davis
Ben Davis is 4-5, this game should be a good game none the less, I’ll take Brownsburg by 10
I got Brownsburg winning this game by 21. (Almins pick)
Sectional 6
North Central at Cathedral
Cathedral will beat North Central because North Central has the worst record in the sectional and they will have no chance to go up against this team. Cathedral has a good offense and defense which will out match North Central.
Lawrence North at Lawrence Central
Lawrence North is 9-0 and has been fairly impressive this season and Lawrence Central has not been, Give me the Lawrence North by 13.
Championship
Cathedral vs Lawrence North
The Irish were in Semi-State 2 years ago and they may be able to get there this season. I’ll Take INDY Notre Dame by 2.
I got Lawrence noth winning this game by 7 points. (Almins pick)
Sectional 7
Perry Meridian at Southport
Perry Meridian will beat Southport because Southport has one of the worst records in the state of Indiana. Perry Meridian has a decent offense and a decent defense because when they’re at home their points per game are 31, and when they’re on the road their points per game are 20.6
Warren Central at Indy Arsenal Tech
Warren Central has 3 D1 commits on the Dline and has other players ranked in the top 25 in the state. This is easy, Warriors by 20.
Championship
Perry Meridian vs Warren Central
Warren Central is too good to lose here, they win by 25 (Hunter’s Pick)
Warren Central will win this game by 28 (Almins pick)
Sectional 8
Franklin Central at Columbus North
Sleeper Pick Columbus North has looked great this season and is a dark house in the South to make it Semi-State. Columbus North by 15.
Center Grove at Jeffersonville
Center Grove will beat Jeffersonville because they have a good offense and defense, and their scoring is good. Their points per game when they are at home is 24.2, and when they are on the road it’s 33 points per game.
Championship
Center Grove vs Columbus North
Upset of the year alert. Center Grove has been consistently good, but this year they have been down slightly. Give me the Columbus North Bulldogs to Upset the Trojans by 3.
I got Columbus North to win this game by 7 points. (Almin’s Pick)
