Not. Done. Yet.
For the first time since 2015, Charger Volleyball is heading back to Ball State to compete for a state title.
Carroll and Yorktown met earlier this season with Chargers dropping 3-0 but they had to play the match without star player Bailey Sinish and fell 0-3.
Saturday brought a pair of teams in front of the Chargers, in the Semi-State Semi-Finals, the Crown Point Bulldogs fell 3-0.
The first set was the only competitive set of the match with the Bulldogs hanging around for the first 10 or 15 points. Once the Chargers got the lead, it was a swift victory as the second and third set went quick with the entire match taking just a tick over 45 minutes.
That set the table for the nightcap vs the top-ranked Hamilton Southeastern Royals, a team Carroll already lost to in straight sets. This matchup built up to the third set which went 31-29 in favor of the Chargers, which led to Carroll controlling the matchup from the second set on securing a spot in the state finals.
The Yorktown Tigers come into the matchup with an impressive record of 31-3 after only dropping one set all postseason and had a fairly easy path through the south of the state with the biggest win coming over Castle and Center Grove in the Semi-State game.Look for the best matchup of the season on Saturday vs the tough test of Yorktown in the hunt for state title number 1.
