“It was rare, I was there. I remember it, all too well.”
There was something magical in Indianapolis, on November 2nd: the glittering outfits, shining lights, and the crowd of people.
The Eras Tour is a two-year series of worldwide concerts featuring Taylor Swift’s 18-year discography.
Traffic was nonexistent on the morning of Night 2, the Indy part of the Eras Tour. At 9 a.m., everything was going smoothly.
Once we arrived, we started exploring Indianapolis and found Cafe Patachou, founded in 1989. They took advantage of that Taylor Swift-coded theme and had everyone dressed in some form of a 1989 theme.
Looking beyond food, there were so many things going on in the city, there were events, meetups, and even pop-up performances from local artists.
I already enjoyed the city of Indianapolis, but the added theming, from street signs to events to even the people around me, took its magic to a new level.
Getting into Lucas Oil Stadium was a breeze, other than the rules for clear bags and metal detectors, but then we were in the stadium and it was stunning. It didn’t even feel real anymore, it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Taylor Swift in concert.
Gracie Abrams opened the show, and seeing her in concert was amazing, especially because there was something different about singing the songs with nearly 70,000 people. I loved her opening set and I was so happy.
From singing along to “Risk”, and “I Love You, I’m Sorry”, to singing the life-changing song “That’s So True”—holding up our flashlights during “Tough Love”.
I fell in love with this concert before the main act even began.
As we were approaching the beginning of Taylor’s set, the final “Midnight’s” clock was displayed, paying tribute to the album that started this 2-year tour.
The moment Taylor came out everyone started screaming, I think this was the most exciting point of the concert, seeing Taylor come up from the stage to open her “Lover” set with “Miss Americana” and “Heartbreak Prince”. Then we went into the song of summer in 2023, “Cruel Summer”.
The light show from the bracelets had just begun, as we all sang along. Each section seemed to have a color associated with an Era. The entire show was filled with lights, whether from the wristbands or phone flashlights; something lit up off-stage—the magic of the glittering.
Getting into the groove of “The Man”, and “You Need To Calm Down”. It was truly one of the most fun nights I have ever had.
Transitioning from “Lover” into “Fearless”, she sank into the stage and “Fearless” began to play as she switched costumes.
Shouting at the top of my lungs about the tragic love stories of the world, including the one and only Romeo and Juliet. High School is one of the most fun, and the most dramatic times of our lives and “Fearless” truly does capture that.
The 2010s were a rocking time to be “22” when one feels like losing him was blue, and loving him was “RED”. The album truly does the job of feeling like a party and getting to dance to “22” while seeing a little girl receive the “22” hat, which brought me to tears. I love this tradition.
“Are you ready for it?” Cause Taylor is, and she’s got a big reputation. And honestly, I don’t blame her, with this album revolving around snakes and love it is truly an interesting album to take us back to 2017.
Moving into our fictional world, the very essence of Long Pond studio sessions, and the almost year-long lockdown, that brought us “Folklore” and “Evermore”, the sister album. While the first 3 might have you dancing in your Levis, these two serve to tell truly fascinating stories. Makes you feel like life is a willow, bending to the wind.
Honestly, I prefer to Shake it off. Because this concert was one of my wildest dreams. Bringing back the life of the party is our besties in New York for “1989”. Loving this concert isn’t enough to describe how much emotion it brought me.
Screaming about the message to “The Smallest Man” who ever lived had me in a chokehold, I cried a lot during the Era of the “Tortured Poets Department”. I love this album a lot because it truly pulls at one’s heart and brings some awareness to how cruel our world is.
To the live studio we go, because it’s time for the acoustic sessions (aka the surprise songs). “The Prophecy” mashed up with “This Love” truly had me falling apart, I love both of these songs and truly can’t put into words how much I enjoyed this experience of them both being played live in a mashup. But the burgundy on my t-shirt, when she played “Maroon x Cowboy Like Me” on the Piano, changed this entire experience. It’s a real legacy to leave.
And into the pool, we swim into the Era to begin our journey into the Eras. Meet me at Midnight because you need to get it off your chest and off her desk. Don’t dress for women or men; dress for revenge because you gotta draw the cat eye sharp enough.
Best believe we’re still bejeweled because when she walked in the room, she made the whole place shimmer. But you best believe that we love this Mastermind for her music and her phenomenal acting for this tour. I loved every second of singing with everyone in that stadium.
Karma is the guy on the chiefs. And you best believe that Travis Kelce was there to witness every bit of this wonder with all of us in Lucas Oil on November 2nd.
Every second of this experience was magical, and going back to the hotel was no exception, it felt strange, to be among so many people going to the same place to sleep.
Thankfully, we were able to also beat traffic the morning of November 3rd before all of the Night 3 people and all the Night 2 people entered/left the city.
This night was sparkling, and I’ll never let it go. I was enchanted to be there.
