The boys’ varsity basketball team hired a new coach from Whitko and Columbia City High School. The coach is now coaching the team to help it have a good record and hopefully win the sectional championship.
The Carroll High School basketball team went 11-14 last year with Ryan Abbott, but with Chris Benedict, the new coach, they can improve this team’s offense and defense.
Coach Benedict talked about why he wanted to take the job and this is what he said “Carroll is a story program with great history and tradition in 35 years of being a head coach, and it’s got a great history of players and coaches and you know playing in the IHSAA is a great opportunity to gather into my coaching career a little bit and take a group of guys and train them with younger guys.
Coach Benedict also talked about on How is he gonna improve this team and this is what he said, “Well each week you just gotta try to continue forward you don’t want to take steps back, you wanna continue to get back incrementally with your team, you wanna set point on the defensive end of the fourth, and you wanna set yourself a position where you wanna be there at night in and night out and take care of the basketball so you get great at possession, and learning how to find ways to win without stress.”
