Starbucks is a popular place where students and staff get their morning drinks, and there is a new CEO who has implemented a lot of changes to the menu and the different policies.
“I’m excited for what is going to be changed but I already like how the store runs,” said freshman Kaitlin Molden.
A major change that a lot of people have opinions about is new cup changes in the store, now they offer reusable cups instead of plastic to go cups.
“I like the plastic cups a lot more than the glass because the glass cups don’t have lids,” said freshman Brooklyn Johnson.
Another change with the new cup policy is that they now only offer free refills for coffee and tea.
“I wish they offered refills on refreshers too because that’s the only thing I get,” said Molden.
For the people who don’t drink their coffee or tea, and choose to drink one of their refreshers are confused about the new policy.
“Most people I know and I get a refresher so I don’t understand that policy really,” said freshman Jocelyn Brimner.
On the other hand the customers who do drink the coffee and tea and excited about the refill change.
“I’m happy that I can get a free refill because most of the time when I go to Starbucks I sit inside so I easily go through more than one drink,” said Johnson.
With the refill option, customers can only get their plain drink and have to pay extra for any accommodations, even if it was already a part of their original order.
“I feel like it’s not a full free refill if I have to repay for extras that I already paid for and ordered in my first order,” said Molden.
Another major change is that Starbucks used to have an open door policy meaning that people could sit down inside and use the bathroom without ever having to buy anything inside.
“I feel like that policy was important because I saw a lot of people that just go in to study and stuff, so I feel like it does not harm to allow that,” said Brimner.
The policy states that you can not sit down or use the bathroom unless you buy something because the company says that they want that seating room for customers so it’s fair.
“I kind of understand it because it would be annoying for actual customers if they can’t sit down because random people want to just go to Starbucks for free wifi,” said Molden.
Some people agree with the no seating without being a customer policy, but a lot disagree with the new bathroom policy.
“I don’t understand why it matters that much if someone just comes in to use the bathroom quickly, especially because people travel a lot and people using the bathroom isn’t affecting actual customers,” said Molden.
There is also going to be a 30% menu cut, mainly cutting out the more unpopular food items.
“I get why they are taking certain things off the menu but I hope they don’t make their menu too simple because a lot of people like different things,” said Johnson.
Customers can expect a lot of different changes in policies and with the menu in the upcoming months.
