The High School’s 2025 spring fashion show is right around the corner. Freshman; Molly Kohlhoff is walking for the fashion show under sophomore Kiara Grilliot’s designs for fashion.
“I’ve seen her in her corset so far,” Grilliot said. “What I’m making for her is a leather corset that’s laced up In the back, and the bottoms are gonna be an a-line skirt with pleats on the top made out of different materials and colors of denim, finished with a big white bow on the back with a shiny fabric.”
Grilliot’s been working on this project since the beginning of this semester.
“I think walking on the runway and being able to model is fun,” Kohlhoff said. “I’m excited to do it again, I can’t wait to see what I’m going to end up wearing.”
Molly has previously walked for the High School 2024 fall fashion show, so she has some experience within walking the runway.
“I scouted Molly out when Mrs. Sholl [ the fashion teacher] said that she wanted somebody who’s a bit taller, fairer skin, and blonde hair, my mind immediately went to Molly, also because we do show choir together.” Grilliot said.
Grilliot expressed that she saw Kohlhoff as a perfect fit for this role in her designing process.
“Being a designer is really fun because you get to have this idea and this picture, and then you just kind of get to make it come to life. There are some setbacks, but it just creates new ideas and new stuff to work with, we’re still capable of expressing our creativity,” Grilliot said.
Grilliot aspires being a help to her fellow show choir companion, Kohlhoff.
“Molly’s contrast was a perfect fit to Kiara’s vision, which was fitting to the given description” Sholl said.
Grilliot enjoys dressing Kohlhoff and having her as a model.
“I really do give the credit to the designer, although modeling for the shows is fun, I really do credit the hard work the designer has put on… and I’m glad to be apart of that vision,” Kohlhoff said.
The Carroll fashion class has a vision for each of their made outfits and brings it to life with fellow classmates suiting the color contrast.
“I am glad I get to take this project and put it together with a fellow show choir companion. I think Molly’s very sweet and being able to work with her while bringing my vision for my project to life is what I was looking for, which is great,” Grilliot said.
Grilliot says she feels like it creates an impact due to being able to showcase a special vision that was made up in her head.
“I think being able to show other people the unique vision, or idea, you had in your head gives them a piece of my energy and creates an inspirational impact,” Grilliot said.
Being able to put together ideas and being able to see it with a big audience is something that the designing class does, and brings opportunity to the people with the talent and creativity to put something together.
