Jonathan Souliske is the freshman/sophomore geography teacher who is very likeable and makes class fun.
He has a new class next year which teaches all about The Holocaust any grade student can take.
He went to Purdue for college and encourages others to do the same.
All teachers have different inspirations on why they became a teacher and a lot wanted to be from when they were young.
“Early on in my career I just really enjoyed it and growing up I really like playing teacher with my siblings,” Souliske said.
High school offers lots of different programs for senior students to do and this is what led Souliske to want to be a teacher.
“In high school I did some of the cadet teaching programs and I really enjoyed it,” Souliske said.
Teaching has a lot of pros and cons but there is one very positive aspect of being a teacher.
“My favorite part is the relationship part and showing people the importance of what their learning and how it makes an impact on students lives,” Souliske said.
There are obviously some cons to teaching and things teachers struggle with.
“My least favorite part is all the decision making at the top that us teachers don’t have a say in and this job is one of those that is almost never ending”,Souliske said.
There are multiple different subjects teachers can teach and reasons for each.
I didn’t sign up to teach geography and before I was actually teaching econ but then some things got shifted around and that’s why I am where I am,” Souliske said.
Since Mr. Soul mainly only teaches freshman and some sophmores, he has a closer look on the younger high schooler’s specifically.
“The freshman classes are a lot of fun and seeing them come in and figure out high school,” Souliske said.
There are multiple colleges in Indiana and Souliske chose to go to Purdue out of all the options.
“Purdue has a great education system and I had a scholarship to go there,” Souliske said.
There are lots of pros and cons depending on where someone chooses to go to college.
“My favorite part was all the memories and actually getting to choose what to learn,” Souliske said.
Everyone has a different college experience and some things affect more than others.
“My least favorite part about college was there is a lot of work and the cost,” said Souliske.
Mr. Soul still decided that even with the high costs that he is still going to get his masters degree.
“Now that I’m working towards a masters that cost is going to hit me once and month, and as you know college is definitely not cheap,” Said Souliske.
If students are either incoming freshman or Sophmores without a social studies credit than they should consider taking Souliske’s geography class.
Also if students are interested in learning about the Holocaust they should consider taking his one semester class over it.
