On October 24th of this year, Paramount Pictures and Constantine Film released a rom-com starring Mason Thames and McKenna Grace, called Regretting You. It’s your typical teenage rebellion story.
But with a twist. The girl is mad at mom, meets a boy mom doesn’t approve of, so of course she decides to date him. Lots of drama. Everything comes together. The end.
Your reaction during the movie depends on what you’re feeling. I went with a group of friends and we were going just for fun. Mind you, we are a group of teenage girls, so giggling and whispering were definite. And that we did.
We were definitely the loudest ones in the theater. Laughing at every stupid joke, giggling at the cheesy pickup lines, and rolling our eyes at the crazy things producers come up with. Just having a good time, making fun of a movie with friends.
My sister also saw Regretting You; she went with her roommate, and they had a completely different experience. Now my sister is a senior in college, so she is more mature and serious than I am, as well as my group of friends. When she went with her roommate, they both wanted to just watch a cute romance.
Not necessarily wanting to laugh, but just something lighthearted and entertaining. And that’s what my sister got, except for getting a little teary-eyed, she thought that the movie was cute. Just a sweet little romance. Definitely targeted more towards teens, a more YA audience. She still enjoyed it.
If you’re looking for a sweet, comedic, and cringy movie, this is the one for you. Sure, it could’ve been done a little better (it’s a speedy romance), but it gets the job done. You’ll be content with how it ends. I know I was. But it’s also got a pinch of sorrow and a spritz of scandal, so you’ll never be bored. Go watch it in the movie theater or wait till it comes out. And when it’s done, you won’t regret it.
