The Carroll Chargers host the Homestead Spartans tonight at the Charger Fieldhouse for the SAC championship game.

Last year, the Chargers lost in the sectional championship to the North Side Legends 57-44. This year, the Chargers look to redeem themselves in search for their third sectional championship in four years.

The Chargers won back-to-back championships in the 14’-15’ and 15’-16’ seasons. In the 2015-2016 season, the Chargers went on to beat North Side 55-44 for the Sectional title and lost to the Spartans in the first round of regionals 56-52.

Both teams have displayed an impressive season so far with Carroll ranked #1 in the SAC, and Homestead tied for second. The Spartans are on a roll winning their last four games, while the Chargers have lost their last two (non-conference games).

But when it comes to the SAC, the Chargers do not mess around. Their only loss was to the Concordia Cadets in the early showing of the season, casting a record of 8-1 in the conference.

These two dominant SAC teams have sported a few key players to keep in mind before going into tonight’s game.

Homestead:

  • Guard; Zak Krueger has shown out all year, averaging 13.7 points per game. His knowledge of the game and ability to find open teammates will be a key factor for the Spartans.
  • Guard; Luke Goode has put on a show all throughout the SAC this season averaging 15.2 points per game. Goode’s standout size and athletic ability under the basket will be needed to keep up with Carroll’s David Ejah.

Carroll:

  • Guard; Dan McKeeman has been smooth from all depths of the court averaging 13.1 points per game for the Chargers. His ability to distribute the ball to open players, while remaining hot from the three-point line will be something to keep an eye out for.
  • Power Forward; David Ejah has been no doubt a reliable player for the Chargers this year, averaging 15.7 points per game. His athletic build has allowed the Chargers to receive multiple opportunities at the basket. Ejah versus Goode will be a match-up for the ages.

These athletic powerhouses plan to take over the Charger Fieldhouse tonight as tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. This will be a game that will go down in SAC history as one of the best games ever played in the conference, mark my words.
