Both the boys and girls cross country team has had a great season so far. The girls have won the state championship back to back years and are seeking a three-peat.

The boys didn’t have as much success last year, losing in regionals, but are seeking redemption this season. To prepare for this, they have been pushing their limits, working harder than ever.

“[The team] is very positive and welcoming,” Sophomore Jacob Kieffer said. “Everyone is really nice and willing to bring me in.”

The team has been thrilling to watch, but it’s not just about what they achieve.

“Being around a group of guys, and having coaches that support us is what it’s all about,” Senior Preston Sloffer said.

According to the Carroll XC Twitter page, the girls team did great at their latest meet on September 19 at West Noble, led by Senior Shelby Christman (2nd place).

The Chargers are looking to extend this great energy into the postseason for a deep run, and with the talent, they have a pretty good chance at winning it all.

The boys have also been doing exceptionally well. At the Marion meet, the Chargers were led by Sloffer (11th place) and Robert Lohman (13th place). The Chargers look to shorten these great times and have success in the postseason.

The cross country teams have done great this season so far, and with the team they have, sectionals on October 10 at Northrop High School, should be interesting to watch.
