Charging on to the 6A Championship
For the first time in program history, Carroll Football will play for a State Championship. Carroll has knocked on the door many times, but only made it as far as regionals. This season they set history and made it to Semi State, and they took it a step further and punched their ticket to Indianapolis.
Carroll will face 11-2 Center Grove, who is looking for their third straight 6A Title, on Friday November 25th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Center Grove is coming off of a 33-10 win against Cathedral, while the Chargers knocked off 6A #1 Hamilton Southeastern 21-15.
The Charger defense continues to be the backbone of this team, only allowing a total of 59 points in the postseason, and scoring 111.
As for the Trojans, they are outscoring their opponents in the postseason 138-66.
So clearly, between the lines these two are very evenly matched. They both have two phenomenal head coaches who both know how to win. The only thing that Center Grove has that Carroll lacks in this ballgame, is the experience of playing for a State Championship. Center Grove will be playing in their fourth consecutive state championship game.
Last Friday’s win marked win number 13 on the season for the Carroll Chargers, which was special to the program as their beloved former Quarterback and classmate Owen Scheele wore number 13.
There is no doubt that Scheele has watched over this team and guided them to where they are today, and there is no doubt that he won’t be there on Friday Night in Lucas Oil to do the same for the Carroll Chargers.
