Girls basketball: an upset for the ages
The Carroll Lady Chargers are electric after a 59-38 upset victory over the Northrop Lady Bruins in Round 1 of Sectional Play at Dekalb High School on Tuesday Night.
The first meeting between the two was an 81-52 Northrop win on November 30th at Northrop High School.
On Tuesday, January 31st, it was a different story.
You could tell that this game was going to be different when the Chargers jumped out to a 5-0 lead within the first 2 minutes of the game.
Senior Taylor Fordyce had 19 points on the night, while Jersey Paul had 17 points with 5 three’s.
The biggest moment in the game, came in the fourth quarter, when it was a 39-38 lead for Carroll and Jersey Paul buried a three to take a 4 point lead, and on the next play, she hits another one and it was 45-38 in the blink of an eye.
Carroll closed out the ballgame on a 20-0 run, and outscored Northrop in the fourth quarter 24-5.
The win was one of the biggest wins in program history, as they knocked off 4A #8.
Carroll will face East Noble on Friday Night in the Second Semi-Final matchup at Dekalb High School at 7:30pm.
