On the quest to win 15 straight sectional titles, Carroll is primed to win the sectional and much more. The 2024 season opened with the Chargers sporting a 12-0 record and grabbing the number five spot in Indiana before losing to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals this past Saturday.
Saturday was the first of two round robins at home this season with the Chargers playing Zionsville and the aforementioned Royals. The Chargers took care of business vs Zionsville in straight sets 3-0.
The Royals are back-to-back state champs and ranked 1 in Indiana and 4 in the country. The Royals were the toughest test the Chargers played all season.
Even with the daunting task of taking on the Royals, the Chargers did a great job of playing them close this season, the first set was 27-25, which is better than 90% of teams who played HSE.
The second game was also close going 25-22. Those first two sets provide a good dose of hope for the Chargers as they proved they can hang with anyone in the state.
The Royals pulled away in the third set showcasing the Division 1 talent all over the roster winning 25-16. A good showing from the Chargers nonetheless.
The old adage rings true yet again for the Chargers, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. The Charger’s average height is 5’9 with the tallest player at 6’0, Lola Sasse.
Look for Carroll to make a deep run into October.
