There’s a new club making waves this year, Movie Club 2.0. Founded by Manuella Stellute Pimenta, is quickly became a club favorite. The club is all about watching and sharing movies, but it’s also about connecting with people who love movies just as much as you do.
What makes Movie Club 2.0 so interesting is that there’s no limit to what they’ll watch. One week it could be a funny classic, and the next week something brand new or totally unexpected. The mix keeps things exciting and gives everyone a chance to share their favorite picks.
When asked if she enjoys it and why, Manuella Stellute Pimenta said, “Yes, because I’m literally the owner. I get to boss everyone around. I have the final say in the final vote for what movie we’ll watch .”Her energy and humor are a big part of what makes the club feel so fun and relaxed.
Even though she likes having the last word, Manuella makes sure everyone gets to share their opinions. After each movie, members have the opportunity to talk about what they liked, what surprised them, or what didn’t make sense. The conversations can be serious or silly, but they always end with everyone feeling a little closer.
Club member Bella Armstrong said it best: “I think it definitely brings people together because you get to laugh at movies or cry at them with the people around you. You also get to see what movies everyone likes, and that’s a nice way to see what people enjoy.”
Another member, Xaiyon Baber, shared why he recommends the club to others. “I would recommend it to others because it’s a chill club and the more people I know that are in it the better, but I believe it’s full.” His comment shows how much students enjoy being part of it.
That’s really what this club is about bringing people together through movies. Whether it’s laughing at a bad joke, gasping at a plot twist, or even tearing up at a sad ending, there’s something about watching a movie with others that just hits differently.
Each meeting feels like a little escape from the usual school day. Everyone brings their own movie taste from thrillers to rom-coms and somehow it all fits together. It’s not about being a film expert or knowing fancy terms. It’s about enjoying movies and sharing that experience with people who get it.
As Manuella says, “It’s not just about watching the movies, but the people you are watching it with. Spending time talking about it with others that share the same passion is what makes our club different from any other movie club.”
