Girls:

Saturday: The girls saw their season come to an end this weekend as the South Side Archers defeated them 89-61 in the Sectional Semifinals. While the Chargers remained in striking distance for much of the game, a fourth quarter onslaught from the Archers proved to be too much for the ladies to overcome. In their last games in the blue and white, Kelli Damman and Laney Steckler continued their dominance on the score sheet with 18 and 17 points respectively. The Senior class of Chargers will leave Carroll having won back to back Sectional Championships, and have left a lasting legacy on their understudies who will take the reigns next winter when the team will return to action.

Boys:

Tuesday: The Chargers took control of their SAC destiny on Tuesday night with a 64-61 win over the North Side Legends. After a 12-5 run to start out the game, North Side responded with a run of their own to close the game up. From there the two teams battled back and forth for remainder of the first half, but the Chargers went to the half leading 38-30. However the Legends came out with a fire in the third quarter to take a one point lead with eight minutes to play. The battle continued down to the final minute where Riley Perlich hit a clutch three to hold the Chargers lead. North Side would answer back to tie the game at 40 but the Chargers came back down the court and Nathan Fish drained a three as time expired to give the Chargers the win. Riley Perlich led the team in scoring with 18 points, nine of which came from beyond the arch. David Ejah posted a double double, with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Friday: The boys pushed their winning streak to 11 games on Friday with a 52-40 win over the Northrop Bruins. While the Chargers were down early, they got the offense going in the second quarter and led 22-16 by halftime. Then the Chargers yet again came out slow in the second half as Northrop cut the Charger lead to just three entering the final frame. However the Chargers weren’t going to let this one slip away and erupted for a 22 point fourth quarter to seal the win and improve to 7-1 in SAC play. The Chargers were led in scoring by Dan McKeeman with 14 points. Arius Jones delivered an above average game, with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. The Chargers return to SAC play this Friday at Homestead where the winner will be crowned SAC Champions.

Saturday: The Chargers fought hard on Saturday but couldn’t overcome the Carmel Greyhounds, taking a 53-42 loss that stopped their winning streak at 11 games. The Chargers came out hot and led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter. However the Greyhounds battled back to tie the game heading into halftime. The Greyhounds would keep up the pressure in the second half and double up on the Chargers in the fourth quarter, going 14-7 in the quarter to solidify the win. Dan McKeeman again led the team in scoring with 14 points. The Chargers will play two more non-conference games to finish out the regular season before Sectionals at East Noble at the bottom of the month.

IBCA Poll: The Chargers stayed put at #17 in the Coaches Poll but are now tied for that spot with Lawrence Central who holds a record of 12-6.
